Kate Hurst, BA, BN, MScN

Ontario Health (Ontario)
I am a Registered Nurse with a primary and community care background with a Master of Science in Nursing (MScN) from York University. I am currently working at Ontario Health on the Primary and Community-Based Care team as a Manager, Primary Care, supporting planning and implementation of interprofessional primary care teams. I am also a contracted Professor at Conestoga College, teaching Internationally Educated Nurses (IENs) in the Nursing Leadership and Healthcare Management program. My research interests include mechanisms for team-based care optimization, including team skill mix, team composition, interprofessional team capacity and recruitment and retention strategies. I am also interested in mechanisms that support equitable and positive patient and provider experiences. My current work is centred around developing a framework for setting realistic targets for patient volumes, with consideration for team composition, geographical location, patient needs and complexity and other contextual factors.
